Sous Chef

Reports to: Executive Chef 

Exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic pre-opening team with Aspire! A new 368- acre park located in Clinton, Tennessee. Aspire is ready to hire a  Sous Chef to help lead our talented pre-opening team! 

We are looking for a Sous Chef who will support the Executive Chef in overseeing the day-to-day operation of The Pearl at Aspire Restaurant and bars. This person will have strong leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills, is able to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation and can provide evidence of having a solid work ethic, good business acumen and a passion for service. Prior experience in casual dining and/or fine dining, made from scratch venue that includes outdoor sporting events, event dining for weddings & special events is a great benefit.  Must relocate to Clinton TN. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist with selecting, training, evaluating, leading, motivating, coaching, and disciplining all teammates in the restaurant to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met. 
  • The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts. 
  • Ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide a clean working environment. 
  • The ability to work closely with the Executive Chef to design an effective menu and wine list while ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price and attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments. 
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, inventory, and cash control. 
  • Observe the physical condition of facilities and equipment in the outlet and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed. 
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with teammates and supervisors. 
  • This position does require an applicant with a flexible schedule, able to work morning/afternoon/evening shifts, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Any other duty, or assignment as requested to ensure guest satisfaction and overall operations of the outlet. 
  • Be willing to collaborate with the team to explore all offerings and menu options. 
  • Embrace feedback from fellow teammates utilizing it to continuously learn and improve offerings.  
  • Lead by example and do all possible to instill the Aspire culture in all teammates that are in your purview or not.  This should be a Disney-like, Blackberry Farm experience that changes the trained individuals to what Aspire needs.  

Preferred Qualifications and Skills: 

  • A culinary degree preferred and/or equivalent experience is required.
  • Two to three years previous experience in a banquet and catering. 
  • Requires a working knowledge of local cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job. 
  • Knowledge of food & beverage service, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising, and accounting. 
  • Requires ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems. 
  • Good command of the English language
